Don't
you have time to think? A collection of Richard Feynman's letters,
compiled by his daughter Michelle Feynman
This collection reveals a side to Richard Feynman that I had not
discovered. I expected to find a keen intellect, and I did. I expected
a probing and restless mind, and it was there. The surprises lay
in the modesty and the self deprecation. Particularly enjoyable
are the replies to correspondents who have written to berate him
or to tell him how little he knows - with whom he tends frankly
to agree, holding his hands up and cheerfully admitting his fault.
Overall, the sensitivity and thoughtfulness brought someone alive
on a much broader stage than I had expected. For those of us overly
busy achieving nothing, this is a thought-provoking tome.
