Facilities

Here is a list of the facilities available to the Biomechanics of Athletics and the Biomechanics of Football research groups.

 

Large indoor Biomechanics Laboratory:

  • 12 x 10 m floor space, 4 m ceiling height

  • multiple locations for placement of force platforms

  • 30m single lane Rekortan running track

 

Video analysis systems:

  • Systems suitable for 2-D and 3-D analysis, indoor or outdoor filming, and automatic or manual digitising

  • Two JVC S-VHS video cameras (50 Hz) and two Panasonic S-VHS video cameras (50 Hz)

  • Three Panasonic digital camcorders (50 Hz)

  • A JVC GR-DVL9600 camcorder (50, 100 Hz)

  • Two Redlake high-speed video cameras (50, 125, 250, 1000 Hz)

  • A Peak Motus digitising workstation and VCR

  • Two APAS digitising workstations and VCRs

  • Motion Analysis system with eight Eagle digital high-speed cameras and EVa Real-Time and Simm software

 

Force platforms:

  • Two Kistler force platforms in Biomechanics Laboratory (60 x 40 cm)

  • Two Kistler force platforms in Indoor Athletics Centre (90 x 60 cm)

  • Three workstations with BioWare biomechanical analysis software

 

Speed analysis equipment:

  • Newtest timing gates and contact mat

  • Innervations contact mat

 

Other equipment:

  • Biodex System 3 Pro isokinetic dynamometer

  • MIE EMG telemetry system and Spike2 software

  • Footscan pressure plate and workstation

  • Smith machine
