Mathematics Tests

These tests form part of Brunel University's Learn Higher CETL.

The following tests are only accessible to Brunel University Students and Staff, logged in to the PC (not U-link) with their Brunel USERID. The system reads this userid and attributes marks to that person only.

Click on the tests below and say OPEN or RUN
You need to be at a PUBLIC DOMAIN machine at Brunel University for the tests to work.
In non-public-domain labs (e.g. those administered by individual schools/departments and not Brunel's Computer Centre) they may still work; if they do, then I will get answer files.
NB for PCs running Windows VISTA, you need to save the .bat file (anywhere, e.g. your desktop) and then run it (by double clicking) - the way the browser has been set up within VISTA will not allow running of this .bat file directly from within the browser. It will work though!

ONLY COMPLETED ATTEMPTS WILL COUNT TOWARDS MARKS FOR ANY MODULE.
N.B. Every time you enter a test it counts as an attempt, whether or not you complete the test. Killing a test in any way still counts as an attempt and this will have been recorded.

A few of you have reported that one of the test freezes sometimes. As far as I know the tests all work correctly. I suspect this is either a memory or network problem. Here's what you should do:

Need help?

The Maths Support Tutor (Dr Inna Namestnikova) will be running PC lab sessions in the LIBRARY TRAINING PC LAB (room L317) where you can do the tests with her help and support ... she is very helpful in sorting out underlying maths problems, so don't suffer in silence!
The sessions will be as follows:

Tuesday 3-5 (17/01/2012; 31/01; 07/02; 21/02; 28/02; 06/03; 13/03; 20/03; 27/03)
& Tuesday 4-5 (24/01/2012)

Inna is also running 'topic of the week' sessions .

Practice tests

Anyone can do the following tests (unless you are asked for a password). No marks are recorded. They are designed around the Maths modules listed, but other students e.g. from Engineering, Economics etc are welcome to try them - you'll almost certainly learn stuff (in which case tell your lecturers about this site).
In particular, Mathematics (and other) level 2 students should also try the level 1 REVISION tests in differentiation, integration, linear algebra etc. Your level 2 modules will build on this, so it's important to refresh your skills before term hots up!

Students doing EC1007 Maths and Statistics for Politics & Economics with Dr David Cappitt should not do these tests but can have a go at their tests above (scroll up the page)
