In this paper we report the results of a survey on the impact of microcomputers (micros) upon OR. Questionnaires were mailed to 216 OR workers throughout the UK. A response rate of 35% was achieved. Nearly half of the groups surveyed have a ratio of at least one micro to one user. These micros are mainly used for spreadsheets, programming, graphics and word-processing.
