Welcome to my homepage

Short Bio: I am a Reader in the Electronic & Computer Engineering Division, School of Engineering & Design at Brunel University, Uxbridge, West London, UK.

Prior to that, I was a Lecturer at ECE Department, Brunel University till July 2010. Between 2004 and 2005 I was a senior researcher at the Hamilton Institute, National University of Ireland, Maynooth. From 2001 to 2004, I was a research fellow at the Planete Group, INRIA Sophia Antipolis, France. My research work in France can be found at INRIA. Previously, I was with the Department of Electronics & Information Engineering, Huazhong University of Science & Technology (HUST), Wuhan, P.R. China. In 2000, I visited the Wireless and Networking Group of Microsoft Research, Asia Lab and conducted research at the Microsoft Research Asia Lab. I received my Ph.D. degree in engineering from the HUST, China. During my college study, I took a training program in TCP/IP networking engineering at the Cisco Networking Academy and received a Best Student Award from the Cisco Networking Academy.

My current research interests are pervasive wireless and mobile communications networks including Wireless LANs (802.11 WiFi), Wireless MANs (802.16 WiMaX), Wireless PANs (Ad-hoc, Sensors & 802.15.3 UWB), 802.20 MBWA, 3G/4G LTE mobile cellular networks and their applications to Smart Grids/Smart Home Communications, Intelligent Transportation and Internet of Things.

I am a Senior Member of IEEE, Fellow of The Higher Education Academy, Member of IET and Cambridge Wireless. In the past I was a Voting Member at the IEEE 802.11 Wireless LAN Standard Working Group.
