Various bits of MICE-related work at Brunel

Currently I am working on:

Sci-Fi Tracker

Beamline Optics

Codes: Turtle, Transport, g4beamline (notes for MICE).

WSH script for analysing particles dumped by Turtle: version 0.6. (Older versions 0.5, 0.4, 0.3, 0.2 and 0.1)

WSH script for cutting Turtle particle dumps by weight/flag value: version 0.1.

WSH script for generating beam profile/projection histogram data from Turtle particle dumps: version 0.1.

WSH script for converting g4beamline/G4MICE analysis ana.out for import into Excel: version 0.2. (Older versions 0.1)

Single particle tracks through a quad from Turtle, including input/output decks.

Sample particle dumps from Turtle and histogram script: all scattering enabled (AllMuonsWhstlNoFlag / TTL_WhstlFlag1 in AllMuonsTTlvG4BL.xls)

Modified versions of Tom's g4beamline files for Nov. 2007 review:

Turtle files describing MICE beamline from May 2007: fixed B1, dipole fringe fields, PAbs/TOF0/CKV/TOF1 scattering patches, dipole horizontal apertures, diffuser size, various aperture shapes, moved TOF1 and diffuser:

Turtle files describing MICE beamline from Feb. 2007: fixed B1, dipole fringe fields, PAbs/TOF0/CKV scattering patches:

Stuff relating to use of the Grid by MICE is now on a new page here.

Getting to MICE

The basic process is covered by the ISIS User Office.

To get a site pass for longer stays:

  1. Get a "Non-Staff Site Pass Application Form" from the ISIS User Office (Building R3 rm. G12) and get it signed by someone at RAL, e.g. Ken. Return it to the user office for processing.
  2. Once done, go to office in R18 in the morning (currently 9:30-11:30) to be photographed and get the pass issued. Remember to ask to have access to the communal office (ground floor of R76) included.
  3. If the issuing office can't give access to the office, get this in the ISIS main control room (MCR).

Site safety induction

  1. Study materials for the safety test are on the ISIS public website, but the test itself can only be taken from a machine on the ISIS network. A roomful of "public" PCs is available in ISIS; ask at the MCR. Choose a machine with headphones, and go to the same URL, http://www.isis.rl.ac.uk/userTraining.
  2. Pass the test and print out the certificate!
  3. Fill out the "Registration Form for Experimenters" from the ISIS User Office (Building R3 rm. G12).
