A three year post-doctoral scholarship wholely funded by National Grid (UK) (May 2000 - April 2003). The project title is Transition-Optimised voltage and Reactive power Control (TORC). The project concerns the application of algorithmic and heuristic methods for transition-optimised voltage and reactive power control on the bulk electricity transmission system of England and Wales, which is maintained and operated by National Grid. The project is part of the National Grid Scholarship scheme and is based at BIPS.
The objectives of the scholarship overlap with the EPSRC - Electricity Supply Research for the 21st Century (ESR21) - post-doctoral research of Dr Masoud Rashidinejad (March 2001 - November 2002) and Dr Zhaohong Bie (April 2003 - July 2004). This research project is partly funded by National Grid (UK) as an industrial collaborator and is also based at BIPS.
